For bookshops

Your staff picks, in your customers’ hands.

Make a list of books on any theme, with a note on why you picked each one. Print it as shelf talkers and a poster, or post it as an image. Customers scan the code, save the books to their own reading list, and BookPocket remembers your shop recommended them.

Free for bookshops.

How it works

  1. Make a list

Pick a theme, add the books, and write a line on each in your own words. Colleagues add their own picks, and each one carries their name and face.

  2. Print it or post it

Print a poster and shelf talkers, six to a page, each with a QR code to the list. Or download a square image for a post and a tall one for a story.

  3. See how it’s doing

See how many readers saved books from each list, and once enough have, how many finished one and what they thought. Counts only, never names.

What your customers see

What you print

A poster for the window or the till, and a shelf talker for each book, six to a page. Print them on your own printer, or save them as a PDF for a print shop. Every QR code opens the list.

Questions shops ask

What does it cost?
Nothing. Lists, printing, images and your shop’s page are free.
Do our customers need an account?
No. Anyone can open a list from the QR code or a link. Saving a book to their own reading list needs a free account, and the book stays credited to your shop.
What do we see about our customers?
Counts, never names. You see how many readers saved books from each list. Once five have finished books from a list, you also see how many finished one and their average rating.
Whose names appear on a list?
Each book shows the display name and profile picture of the bookseller who picked it, on the list and its shelf talker. Someone without a display name shows as the shop.
Does the shop need its own login?
No. You use BookPocket with your own account, and your shop is a page you belong to. Colleagues join with their own accounts, and the shop’s lists stay with the shop if someone leaves.
How do we start?
Apply with your shop’s name and website. We check each shop before its page goes public, usually within a couple of days, and email you when it’s ready.
